Google Maps API Guide

With the extension, we give you a free Google API key, but it will only work for 10 days after you install the extension. So you need to set up your Google API key to use this extension. To keep you up to date, we will send you an alert three days before your trial ends.

To get your own Google API key, follow the instructions below:

  1. To make a new project, log in to your Google account and navigate to this link: https://console.cloud.google.com/.



  2. Select the project that was just made. Navigate to Billing and set up your billing account. Your API key will only work if you have successfully linked a billing account to your project.

  3. After you link your billing account, Navigate to Google Maps Platform > APIs and Enable
    1. API Google Places New
      https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/library/places.googleapis.com
    2. Google Places OLD
      https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/library/places-backend.googleapis.com
    3. Google Geo-coding API
      https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/library/geocoding-backend.googleapis.com




4. After you have enabled both APIs for your new project, navigate to Google Maps Platform > Credentials > Create Credentials > API Key.  Make sure to keep it private and not share it with anybody.  (Leave the key unrestricted and keep it confidential).

 

 5. Copy your API key into the extension and click Save.
